Over-thinking is also a relative to anxiety. To over-think something means to think about something too much or for too long. Over-thinking cause us to delay important decisions, drains our energy and inhibits us from being productive. It prevents one from taking action, doing new things and most importantly from making progress in our daily lives. It makes one feel like they are mentally and emotionally drowning. The thoughts go around in circles in our minds making us feel frustrated and overwhelmed. Over thinkers also have wandering minds and I’m here to tell you that if you are not careful, your wandering mind will betray you. We must remember that there is someone bigger than us and our thoughts that’s willing and able to help us through any situation. We have to learn to lean and depend on him at all times. He is the author and finisher of our faith.
We have to stay in God’s word and learn it, remember it and mediate on it so that when your mind begins to wander and you begin to over-think you can spit the word of God at it like a dragon spitting fire. God I trust you and the plans that you have for me. I believe that you love me. I believe that you created me for a purpose and to fulfill your will for my life. God has given us power to think those things that is not as though they were…That’s Faith! We have the power through Christ Jesus to create our own reality with our words and our thoughts.
2 Timothy 1:7
The above bible verse is one of my favorites. It tells us that God does not want us to live in fear, the fear that we create in our minds; however, he wants our minds to be whole. That’s what having a sound mind is. It’s being able to think reasonably. It’s being able to make mature decisions without second guessing your decision. It’s being able to stand strong under pressure and to pursue the wonderful things in life that will bring you joy and peace. That’s why it is paramount that you learn the word of God for yourself so that you are able to defend yourself out loud against negative thoughts and over-thinking (which is a trick of the enemy) to destroy you, to hinder you and to prevent you from doing the things that God would have you to do. Begin to take control of your thoughts. Make a declaration today that you will no longer allow your mind to be a playground for over-thinking, fear nor anxiety. God has promised us in his word a sound mind…So Stand On That!!!
